Thanks for Partying with Us!
With the nearly perfect weather and the great smells of brats, hot dogs, and burgers cooking on the grill, the evening started off right. Many folks came to our backyard to enjoy some great food, cold beverages, live music, and the excellent company of friends and neighbors.
Soon after the gates opened, more hot dogs and brats needed to be thrown on the grill, quickly followed by requests for more hamburgers, and then more hot dogs, and then… You get the idea, the folks running the grill kept busy! Although this was our first annual “Party in Our Back Yard,” we quickly developed a smooth and efficient process for filling the food orders.
The band, 8 Seconds, was soon entertaining the ever-growing crowd. As evening turned to night, the dancing really started and the party was in full swing. 8 Seconds kept the beat going and rocked the house (or in this case, the fire station). Because this was a family event, several children were running around our back yard and also having a blast. Earlier in the day we had fenced off our back yard just for this event, so the youngsters had a safe area to run and play in.
It took a lot of work to make this event successful, so the Ely Fire Department would like to also thank not only everyone who attended our Party, but also a big Thank You to 8 Seconds for the entertainment, and to everyone who helped set up, grill the food, serve the food and drinks, work the entrance gate, clean up, and otherwise contributed to the success of our party!
